Return of the Mac

So, it's officially been FOREVER since I posted to this blog, like seriously way too long. BUT, my blog gets a shout out in this month's edition of Appeal Magazine, so I figured I'd better update.
Lot's has changed since I last posted here, so rather than giving you a summary, I figured I would just make a bulleted list of the highlights:

I'm a mommy! Porter Jay Thompson just recently celebrated his first birthday. He is the most delightful, caring and sweet little boy! He is truly a joy to be around. Such a happy and excited baby! Look forward to my birth story soon!

  • Brad and I bought a house in April of last year in Atlanta. It's our first home to own and we are steadily making it in to the cozy, inviting place that we dreamt of.
  • I've now been employed as the Public Relations Director at Texarkana College for a year (actually, it was a year yesterday). It has been an insane, crazy, interesting and excitement filled year and I am so blessed to have a job that I enjoy and love. I seriously never have the same day twice in a row, and I could not ask for more.
  • New friends and blessings continue to pour out from an Almighty Savior. We've helped start a small group ministry for young married couples at our church (FBCQC) and we continue to see God grow our congregation under the leadership of an awesome pastorial team. It's so wonderful to serve in a place that we can truly see God moving.
  • I'm in the process (a slow and painful process) of writing a book about the way people talk to pregnant women. It's not only a recount of my own experiences, but somewhat of an etiquette lesson for the general public. Not sure when it will be finished, but it's sure to take a while, since I sort of have my hands full at the moment.
  • I took on an unimaginable tasks for the first time this semester. When the Fall rolled around, I discovered for the first time in 21 years that I would not be going to class. So, saddened incredibly by this, I decided to teach a public speaking class at Texas A&M University- Texarkana. It has been fun and adventurous and I have learned A LOT.
I believe those are the main things for now. There is so much to say about each of these bullets, and I promise a post on each in the upcoming future. For now however, I have a little boy who's eager to update his blog as well. For those of you who haven't visited, check it out: http://porterthompson.blogspot.com/

Take care everybody!
